Dr. Kathy Koch – Raising Resilient Kids

Dr. Kathy Koch is the founder and president of Celebrate Kids, Inc. Her organization helps fathers and educators better understand the needs of children. She’s a frequent contributor for one of the largest Christian organizations, Focus on the Family.

Today, Kathy and Larry discuss the importance of building resilience in children. Raising resilient kids is an important part of parenting in today’s world. Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties and face challenges with courage. It is an essential quality for children to develop in order to be successful in life.

Good news dads, resilience can be taught and developed! We should start by providing a safe and secure environment. This foundation allows us to teach children to trust their own judgment and believe in themselves. Start by giving positive reinforcement, providing children with opportunities to make choices, and allowing them to make mistakes.

You should also focus on problem solving. Teach them how to break down a problem into smaller, more manageable pieces and identify solutions. It’s also important to teach children how to think positively and stay focused on the task at hand.

Finally, help your children to become more resilient by  teaching them to look for the bright side in any situation, to stay focused on the present, and to look for opportunities to improve. It is incredibly important that children take responsibility for their actions. Accountability is a key to lifelong success

Raising resilient kids is an important part of parenting. It requires patience, understanding, and guidance. With the right tools and strategies, you can help your children become more resilient and better prepared to face the challenges that life throws their way.
