Why Kids Lie and What Dads Can Do About It

We usually interview an alliance member on Thursday Throwdown, but this week’s going to be a little different. This is about being a human and fallible dad in the midst of some challenges with my 11-year-old son. He’s been caught in a few lies lately, and that’s the type of behavior a dad wants to get in front of right away.

Why do kids lie and what can dads do about it? How do we punish them without making them feel as if we only exist to make their lives miserable? How can we make our kids understand how difficult it is to be a parent? You’ll find out my personal experience in this episode.

The Everyday Fighter in Life

Thursday Throwdown is our show centered on relatable dads. Today we have Dad Edge Alliance member Philipp Lomboy on the show. He is an everyday dad of four girls and he is the host of a podcast called Everyday Fighter.

Philipp was a guy who never talked and always avoided conflict, especially when it came to his wife. He shares how making the choice to be more open has changed his life and inspired the idea for his new podcast.

The Dangers of Perfection

Do you go at life alone? If you’re like 99% of the men out there, you probably are. Most men bear the weight of the world on their shoulders and tell everyone who asks that they’re “good” and “fine”. They don’t want to ask for advice or help because their afraid of looking weak.

But the dangers of perfection are real and the stress that accumulates from internalizing our fears and worries seeps into everything we do as men, husbands, and fathers.

Thursday Throwdown is our short show with everyday, relatable dads. Today we have Dad Edge Alliance member Brian Auten on to share his experience.
